Course Overview

This Diploma of Social Media Marketing aims to provide graduates with social media and digital marketing knowledge and skills required to perform the following functions associated with roles such as digital manager and social media marketing manager:
Will provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required to perform the following functions associated with these roles:

  • Review and evaluate the existing business, operational, and marketing strategies and their applicability to social media.
  • Understand the benefits of each social media channel and how to use these channels to benefit the organisation.
  • Engage with a range of clients and stakeholders and tailor the social media and digital marketing strategy to these individuals.
  • Analyse and interpret an organisation’s vision, mission, values, and objectives, and effectively apply this to the social media and digital marketing strategy.
  • Write and develop content for digital publication that is consistent with the organisation’s brand identity and marketing objectives.
  • Manage the business’ social media, email marketing, and digital profiles effectively to increase brand awareness and generate revenue.
  • Use key performance indicators to monitor and improve overall social media marketing effectiveness, ensuring activity, quality, cost, and time requirements are met.
  • Develop a comprehensive social media marketing strategy, implementation plan, and strategic review process.
  • Present to relevant stakeholders the key learnings from the strategy and implementation.

The following 9 units of competency are required:

  1. NAT10904001 Plan, implement and manage content marketing (Core)
  2. NAT10904002 Plan, conduct and optimise organic social media marketing (Core)
  3. NAT10904003 Plan, manage and optimise paid social media advertising (Core)
  4. NAT10904004 Establish, build and leverage a personal brand on social media (Core)
  5. NAT10904005 Plan, implement and manage social media conversion strategies (Core)
  6. SIRXMKT006 Develop a social media strategy (Core)
  7. BSBMKG541 Identify and evaluate marketing opportunities (Elective)
  8. BSBMKG552 Design and develop marketing communication plans (Elective)
  9. BSBPMG430 Undertake project work (Elective)

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Minimum Age to Apply We do not enrol students under 18 years of age in any of our courses. Students must be 18 years and above at the time of course commencement
Minimum Age to Apply Year 12 equivalent to Australian standards or above and/or Certificate level qualification from Australia
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)
Overseas applicants are required to demonstrate English language proficiency by one of the following options:

Overall English language tests results: IELTS 5.5, with no band less than 5.0, or equivalent on PTE, CAE or TOEFL iBT.
Certificate of completion from an Australian Senior Secondary School
Certificate of completion from an Australian Qualification at a Certificate III level or above, within the last two years prior to the application
Have completed at least 5 years of study in English medium in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland
Upper-Intermediate level certificate from an Australian ELICOS provider

All students are also required to undertake an Ironwood Institute Internal English test prior to course commencement.
