Salford College delivers a hands-on, high-quality, practical course of CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry that provides participants with all the skills required to become qualified tradesperson in Australia and overseas. Students will learn and practice the skills necessary to work as a carpenter in the real world. Students will also learn about the safety and business dimensions of working in this exciting industry.

In this course, students will work with trade tools and learn the skills to build, install, finish and repair structures and fixtures for domestic and commercial developments. Students will learn to interpret plans, calculate pitches and slopes and understand the safety requirements of building sites.

Course Structure

There are 34 units in this qualification out of which 27 are core units and 7 are elective units. This course is conducted with a blended learning model that includes face-to-face learning in classrooms and in simulated workshops. Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practical based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

At least Year 12 Equivalent to Australian standards or/and Certificate level qualification from Australia or/and Life experiences and background of relevant work (to be supported by resume and interview and referrals)

English – IELTS 5.5 or equivalent in TOEFL, PTE, OET. Or /And Meet the Literacy, Language, Numeracy (LLN) test organised by Salford college*

Internship or Work Placements

The Work Experience or Industry Placement component of the qualification is delivered from term 3 till term 8 for over 6 hours each week for up to 60 hours per term to meet the 360 hours of the work experience requirement. Work experience assists students in gaining the technical skills needed to work in commercial carpentry, residential carpentry, or formwork.
