Course Overview

This qualification covers competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electronic equipment and devices at component/sub-assembly level with options in communications, audio, video and TV, personal computer and networks, security and custom installations. 

Course Structure

This qualification has 19 units of competency, comprising of 14 core & 5 elective units.

  2. UEECD0016 Document and apply measures to control WHS risks associated with electrotechnology work*
  3. UEECD0019 Fabricate, assemble and dismantle utilities industry components*
  4. UEECD0043 Solve problems in direct current circuits*
  5. UEEEC0060 Repairs basic electronic apparatus faults by replacement of components*
  6. UEEEC0074 Troubleshoot resonance circuits in an electronic apparatus*
  7. UEEEC0069 Troubleshoot digital sub-systems*
  8. UEEEC0075 Troubleshoot single phase input d.c power supplies*
  9. UEEEC0067 Troubleshoot basic amplifier circuits*
  10. UEEEC0066 Troubleshoot amplifiers in an electronic apparatus*
  11. UEEEC0028 Fault find and repair complex power supplies*
  12. UEEEC0063 Solve fundamental electronic communications system problems*
  13. UEECO0007 Participate in electronics and communications work and competency development activities

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Students must have completed an overseas equivalent of Australian year 12.
Mature age students will also be considered without the minimum education requirements but with relevant work experience within chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements.
Entry requirements will be checked at enrolment in line with the RTO’s Student entry requirements, selection, enrolment and orientation policy.
Minimum Age to Apply Students must be over 18 years of age.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) Students must have either an IELTS score of 5.5 total or above with no band lower than 5.0 or
Paper based (PBT) TOEFL score of 550 or above or
Internet based (iBT) TOEFL score of 78 or above and must provide documentation to that effect.
