Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of commercial cooks who have a supervisory or team leading role in the kitchen. They operate independently or with limited guidance from others and use discretion to solve non-routine problems.

Course Structure

This qualification has 33 units of competency:

  • 26 core units
  • 7 elective units

The MVC Industry Advisory Panel has selected the Elective units that are most appropriate to meet industry requirements.

Academic Entry Requirements
  • It is strongly recommended that individuals undertake lower level qualifications (SIT30816 - Certificate III in Commercial Cookery) , and/or gain industry experience prior to entering the qualification.

AND

  • Students must have completed Australian Year 12 or an equivalent qualification. 
Minimum Age to Apply Students must be minimum 18 years of age.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) IELTS band 5.5 or equivalent 
English Language Requirements English Language Proficiency can also be demonstrated by having an Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) working Level 4 - based on pre enrolment LLN assessment.
