Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff

Course Structure

This qualification is made up of 16 units of competency (subjects):

  • 12 Core units – Units you must complete as part of the qualification
  • 3 Elective units – Alana Kaye College have chosen the elective units that we believe are the most beneficial and relevant to the majority of students

Academic Entry Requirements

Hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Minimum Age to Apply International students must be 18 years of age or older.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) Evidence of an IELTS score of 5.5 or above, or its equivalent must be provided.

Career Opportunities

This qualification is for those early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing programs in early childhood education and care services. In most states and territories, it is the qualification required at Director or Service Manager level.


Internship or Work Placements

It is a requirement that students complete 280 hours of work placement (to be satisfactorily signed off by your Work Supervisor and your Alana Kaye Assessor). In addition, the work placement must be in a regulated education and care service.

This work placement will be completed at different times throughout your course of study.

You must have a working with children clearance before commencing work placement (we will assist you to apply for this upon arrival in Australia).
