Course Overview

The Diploma of Accounting is intended to provide students with foundation academic and business skills in accounting, supported with an introduction to related areas of study of economics, business law, statistics and marketing. It also develops the skills for self-directed learning and provides opportunities to apply these skills to business problems.

The Diploma of Accounting can be taken as a stand-alone course of 8 core subjects within 2 trimesters. Alternatively, the Diploma can be used as an entry point and direct entry pathway to the Bachelor of Business (Accounting). There are no electives for the Diploma of Accounting.

Course Structure

This qualification is structured as follows:

Trimester One

  1. BUS100 Professional Communication Skills
  2. ACC100 Introduction to Accounting
  3. BUS104 Introduction to Marketing
  4. ECO100 Introduction to Economics

Trimester Two

  1. MGT100 Introduction to Management
  2. ACC101 Introduction to Financial Accounting 
  3. BUS101 Introduction to Business Law
  4. BUS105 Business Statistics

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Higher School Certificate or equivalent with 55% minimum (comparable to an ATAR of 55) or overseas equivalent
Minimum Age to Apply KOI does not enrol students under 18 years of age.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) Minimum overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 5.5

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Diploma of Accounting may find entry level employment in accounting and financial management.
