Course Overview

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to plan, design, manage and monitor an enterprise information and communications technology (ICT) network as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team responsible for advanced ICT network security systems. The qualification has a high-level ICT technical base with appropriate security units and the ability to specialise in a number of areas, including voice, wireless, network infrastructure and sustainability.

This course is appropriate for those:

  • Persons either domestic or international who wish to gain technical skills in planning, technical design, implementation and the management of high-level and complex computer network security systems and components.
  • Persons who have been made redundant from the workforce and are wishing to make a career change and who are seeking to update their existing skill set.
  • Those holding older training package (e.g. ICA05) qualification and seeking to upgrade the qualification with current skills and knowledge.
  • International students wishing to undertake a pathway course for their higher education degree.

Course Structure

To attain the ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology, the ICT Training Package requires students to complete (16) units comprising of six (6) core units and ten (10) elective units as set out in the packaging rules of ICT60220 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology.

Students wishing to enrol in this qualification must have successful completion of Australian year 12 or equivalent.

Preferred pathways for candidates considering this qualification include:
  • After achieving ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology (Advanced Networking), or
  • other relevant qualifications or units equivalent to the core of ICT50418 Or
  • With documented vocational experience in a range of work environments in senior network support roles, including administrator, operations analyst, technician, operations or support coordinator/technician.

Any overseas/international learner who scores below the minimum level in the tests mentioned above, must have undertaken, or agree to undertake, an English language programme (ELICOS) of at least 10 weeks’ duration.
OR 
Any overseas/international learner who has completed a certificate IV or above qualification in Australia in an English-medium institution, is deemed to have satisfied College English language proficiency requirements.  Proof of completion must be provided at the time of application.
OR 
Any on-shore learner who does not have an IELTS/TOEFL/ PTE Academic/Cambridge score, or Elicos certification, may satisfy College English language requirements, if at the time of their application, they can demonstrate a Core Skills Profile for Adults Level 3 or above, in the ACER English language, literacy and numeracy test.
