Course Overview

This qualification is designed to meet the needs of senior managers within building and construction firms. The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for construction Work is required for any person who is to carry out construction work. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement
Additional units of competency may be required to meet builder or project manager registration requirements in various states and territories.

The following 15 units are included in this course, and all are required to complete 8 core units and 7 elective units for the award of the qualification.

  3. CPCCBC4001 Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for Class 1 and 10 Buildings
  4. CPCCBC4053 Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for Class 2 to 9, Type C Buildings
  5. CPCCBC5002 Monitor costing systems on complex building and construction projects
  6. CPCCBC5005 Select and manage building and construction contractors
  7. CPCCBC5007 Administer the legal obligations of a building or construction contractor
  8. CPCCBC5019 Manage building and construction business finances

Academic Entry Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.

Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.

This will also include an LLN assessment and you must achieve ACSF 4 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.

Language Requirement
English Language Requirements

Have an IELTS* score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:

  • Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
  • Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
  • Successful completion of an English Placement Test.

Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. You are required to provide your results so that we can confirm they are equivalent to IELTS 5.5.

Internship or Work Placements

The work placement component is a total of 100 hours which should be completed within the course duration. The work placement must be completed only with an approved provider. We may assist you to find a work placement or you can find your own. Your work placement will be discussed in detail with you once you start your course.
