Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who diagnose, analyse, evaluate, design and modify vehicle systems in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

This course is designed for international students who will be involved in classroom training in a full time capacity to gain the qualification. These students may come from different countries and cultural backgrounds and must hold a valid student visa.

Course Structure

Students need to complete 12 units of competency in total, including 1 core unit and 11 elective units:

  1. AURLTQ003 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle transmission and driveline systems

  4. AURETA005 Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in theft-deterrent systems 
  5. AURETB002 Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in dynamic control management systems 
  6. AURETE001 Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in engine management systems 
  7. AURETR034 Develop and apply electrical system modifications 
  8. AURLTB002 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle braking systems 
  9. AURLTD007 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle steering and suspension systems 
  10. AURLTE003 Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle engine and fuel systems

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements
Must have completed an automotive Certificate IV qualification in one of the following disciplines, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
AUR40816 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling.
Completed year 12 (HSC or equivalent)
Minimum Age to Apply
Must be 18 years of age or over
Language Requirement
English Language Requirements
Minimum 5.5 IELTS score or equivalent as per the following:
TOEFL iBT: 46
PTE Academic: 42
OET: B for each test component
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) 162
