Course Overview

This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

Course Structure

The CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services requires the completion of the following 16 Units (including 8 core and 8 electives).

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Minimum Age to Apply

Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement.

Some prospective students may be asked to undertake an LLN assessment or enrolment interview prior to acceptance.


Academic Entry Requirements Must have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent level of schooling or a Certificate IV or higher qualification with an Australian institution.

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) Must demonstrate English level of IELTS 6.0 with no band less that 5.5 or equivalent

Career Opportunities

Internship or Work Placement

This qualification requires that the learner complete a total of at least 400 hours of work placement in at least two community service organisations in Australia. This consists of a 200-hour placement in year one and a further 200-hour placement in year two.
