Course Overview

This is a live saving skills you can apply at home , workplace and public space. The majority of jobs in the health sector requires this certification.

1. HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an emergency procedure that combines chest compressions often with artificial ventilation in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

2. HLTAID011 Provide first aid

The Provide First Aid course is the minimum requirement for workplace first aid compliance, providing students with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other First Aiders until emergency qualified help arrives at the scene

3. HLTAID012 Provide first aid in education and care setting

This Unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants ,children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determines by Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

Course Covers

first aid procedures for bleeding, burns and fractures

managing medical conditions such as anaphylaxis, asthma and seizures

managing medical emergencies such as snake/spider bites, poisons and choking

administering first aid for eye & soft tissue injuries

assessing and moving sick & injured

legal responsibilities of a first aider

basic anatomy and physiology

managing shock

infection control procedures

how to properly assess an emergency situation

CPR techniques on adults and infants

using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

managing exposure to extreme temperatures

and much more

COVID-19 Precautions

All first aid courses are still proceeding as planned.

We have exceptional infection control measures in place

Classes have been limited in size.

The 1.5m and 4mx4m social distancing guidelines apply in all our classes.

We encourage the use of hand sanitization during training.

Breaks in every 2 hours, to sanitize all surfaces, door handles, etc.

Gloves are provided to use for your assessments.

As per ARC, guideline assessments have been modified. For example -you do not have to breathe into the manikin during this time.

1-Day Course with 2 Units of Competency

1-day course with 2 Units of Competency from the HLT Health Training Package recorded on your Statement of Attainment.

Anyone who has travelled internationally in the last 14 days must not visit our campuses.

If you are in this category of students, please defer all enrolments.

General Illness

Anyone with a fever or history of fever and acute respiratory infection (with at least one of the following symptoms: shortness of breath, cough or sore throat) should also defer enrolment until they are well.

Delivery Location

ISMT training rooms in Sydney are located in the heart of the St Leonards. If traveling by train, get off at St Leonard’s train station and walk out onto Pacific Highway, Turn left, and just a 5-minute walk. Exact address.

USI Number Requirements

Cancellation policy

We are unable to refund students who do not turn up for first aid classes or decide later after booking that they do not want to attend. Changes to class times are allowed, but not within 72 hours of the class commencing.
