Course Overview

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard.

Under the National Quality Framework, 50% of educators required to meet the relevant ratios in a centre based service working with children preschool age and under, must have or be actively working towards an approved Diploma level education and care qualification.

All other educators required to meet the relevant ratios at the service must have or be actively working towards an approved Certificate III level education and care qualification.

Course Structure

To successfully complete the CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, students must complete the following 17 units:

  2. CHCECE035 Support the holistic learning and development of children
  3. CHCECE033 Develop positive and respectful relationships with children
  4. CHCECE036 Provide experiences to support children’s play and learning
  5. CHCECE038 Observe children to inform practice
  6. CHCECE034 Use an approved learning framework to guide practice
  7. CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice
  8. CHCECE030 Support inclusion and diversity
  9. CHCECE054 Encourage understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples\’ cultures
  10. CHCECE031 Support children’s health, safety and wellbeing
  11. CHCECE037 Support children to connect with the natural environment
  12. CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  13. CHCECE055 Meet legal and ethical obligations in children’s education and care

Entry Requirement

Admission Requirements
Minimum Age to Apply
Minimum 18 years of age.
Academic Entry Requirements Successful completion of Year 10, (High School Certificate (HSC) OR equivalent) OR a Certificate II OR equivalent OR be a mature age.
Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.0
TOEFL-IBT Score (Minimum) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-Based Test must have scored 40 or higher
PTE Score (Minimum) Pearson Test of English (PTE) must have scored 38 or higher.

CAE Score (Minimum) Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) ESOL test must have score 154 or higher.

Internship or Work Placement

This course includes 480 hours of work-based training which will be completed over a period of 20 weeks. During work-based training, students will be able to practice their skills and knowledge in workplace setting. This will assist students to be job-ready after successfully completing the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
