Course Overview

This qualification reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in managing, coordinating and/or delivering person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialized skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

  6. CHCMGT005 Facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes 
  7. CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice 
  8. HLTWHS004 Manage work health and safety 

Elective

  1. CHCADV002 Provide advocacy and representation services 
  2. CHCCCS004 Assess co-existing needs 
  3. CHCCDE011 Implement community development strategies 
  4. CHCCSL001 Establish and confirm the counselling relationship 
  5. CHCCSM004 Coordinate complex case requirements 
  6. CHCCSM005 Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management

Academic Entry Requirements
Must have completed at least the equivalent of Year 12.
Minimum Age to Apply
International students must be at least 18 years of age

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum)
These students must also have an IELTS Academic score of 5.5 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old).

International Students may not be required to provide evidence of English Language competence where documented evidence can be provided to demonstrate any of the following:   

the student was educated for 5 years in an English speaking country.  
the student has completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO. 
the student has successfully completed an English Placement Test.  
the student has successfully completed a foundation course in Australia 
the student has successfully completed their High School in English Language.

Internship or Work Placement

To achieve, this qualification students must complete at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.


Students must undergo police clearance and required vaccination/immunisations before the placement which will be at the student’s own cost.
