Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged
services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Worker will be required to maintain quality
service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Course Structure

Students must complete the following 18 units of competency to achieve this qualification:

Core Units:

  1. CHCADV001 Facilitate the interests and rights of clients
  2. CHCAGE001 Facilitate the empowerment of older people
  3. CHCAGE003 Coordinate services for older people
  4. CHCAGE004 Implement interventions with older people at risk
  5. CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia
  6. CHCCCS006 Facilitate individual service planning and delivery
  7. CHCCCS011 Meet personal support needs
  8. CHCCCS023 Support independence and wellbeing
  9. CHCCCS025 Support relationships with carers and families
  10. CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  11. CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
  12. CHCPAL001 Deliver care services using a palliative approach
  13. CHCPRP001 Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships
  14. HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
  15. HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Minimum Age to Apply
Students must be over 18 years of age.
Academic Entry Requirements
Students must undergo a working police check and have a valid blue card before undertaking work placement. For further information, please visit bluecard.qld.gov.au.
It is recommended, although not mandatory that students have the following immunisations: Influenza, Measles, Rubella (German measles), Chickenpox (varicella), Hepatitis A, Mumps, Whooping cough (pertussis).

IELTS Score (Minimum)
ASMI will accept test results from the following specified English language tests for student visa purposes taken in any country:
• The TOEFL Paper-Based Test (TOEFL PBT)
• Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
• Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test (also known as Certificate in Advanced English).
Students are required to reach a minimum level of English: IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or TOEFL 530 or ISLPR 2+. For further advice or assistance, please contact the International Student Manager.
