Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who service, diagnose and repair electrical systems and components in vehicles in the automotive electrical service and repair industry.
This course is designed for international students who are not involved in a traditional traineeship and will be involved in both theory and practical training in a full time capacity to gain the qualification.

Course Structure

This course consists of a total of 32 units of competency, including the following 20 core units and 12 elective units.

  2. AURAEA002 Follow environmental and sustainability best practices in an automotive workplace 
  3. AURETK002 Use and maintain electrical test equipment in an automotive workplace 
  4. AURETR125 Test, charge and replace batteries and jump-start vehicles 
  5. AURETR112 Test and repair basic electrical circuits 
  6. AURETR129 Diagnose and repair charging systems 
  7. AURETR130 Diagnose and repair starting systems 
  8. AURETR135 Apply knowledge of petrol and diesel engine operation 
  9. AURETR131 Diagnose and repair ignition systems 
  10. AURETR123 Diagnose and repair spark ignition engine management systems 
  11. AURETR124 Diagnose and repair compression ignition engine management systems 
  12. AURETR006 Solder electrical wiring and circuits 
  13. AURETR132 Diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems 
  14. AURETR010 Repair wiring harnesses and looms 
  15. AURETR027 Install ancillary electronic systems and components 
  16. AURETR007 Apply knowledge of automotive electrical circuits and wiring systems
