Course Overview

This qualification reflects the role of workers who provide advanced assistance to a dentist, dental hygienist, dental prosthetist, dental therapist or oral health therapist, contributing to the quality of oral health care. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 350 hours of work as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency.

Course Structure

This course consists of the following 8 units of competency including, 2 core units and 6 elective units:

  1. HLTSTE003 Sterilise loads
  2. HLTWHS003 Maintain work health and safety
  3. HLTDEN021 Apply the principles of radiation biology and protection in dental practice
  4. HLTDEN022 Prepare to expose a prescribed dental radiographic image
  5. HLTDEN023 Produce a prescribed dental radiographic image
  6. BSBOPS401 Coordinate business resources
  7. BSBMED301 Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately
  8. BSBMED401 Manage patient recordkeeping system

Admission Requirements
Academic Entry Requirements Successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent. 
Minimum Age to Apply

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Successful completion of a Police Clearance and Working with Children Check. 

Language Requirement
IELTS Score (Minimum) A Valid IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent is required.
